High gas prices got you fired up? Tired of paying a fortune for 87 octane gas and giving up a college fund for premium gasoline? Looking for the best gas prices in town and only finding the worst? Why are gas prices so high? What drives up the price per barrel of gasoline? How can alternative fuels help us out? How to buy a hybrid? Should I buy a hybrid vehicle? All these questions are on the forefront of our minds, leading consumers to pull their hair out looking for a way to keep from losing their entire bank account just trying to get from home to work and back. We have assembled information and reviews from makers and users or alternative fuels like ethanol, which is fuel made from corn, and hybrid automobiles. Hopefully, we can get you started answering the question, what are alternative fuels, and how do I get them!?

I began using alternative fuels a few years back on my farm in Iowa. Growing up in an area like this I expected to see a huge growth in the farming industry when the rest of the world realizes the benefits of using ethanol over regular gasoline. Its much cheaper and instead of releasing pollution into the air and ground, it releases water. That just makes sense to me. I am not a corn farmer so know that I am writing truth here. From here on out all I will buy is ethanol powered vehicles. I will say its tough to find them in much of the rest of the country, but if wee could all get together on this one, life would be a lot better. That's for sure.

I am probably the only one who would say this, but I hate these new alternative fuels. They make less powerful cars and trucks and I am sure that they will never be better than regular gasoline powered vehicles. I don't think there is anything quite like a 68 SS Camaro going wide open. Or a Corvette Z06 with the throttle on the floor. New fuel sources will make those cars obsolete. I mean, can you really imagine a hybrid monster car like that? That's just stupid.

I don't think anyone would balk at the chance to get a hybrid car. I thought about for a while and read the reviews that said it was actually more expensive to own a hybrid than a regular car and that it was really pointless until the price came down. But in the US we get a $3000 tax break to buy a hybrid car for the first year we own it. That's money in my pocket right there plus in my Toyota Prius I get 50 mpg (miles per gallon). That makes good sense to me. Go Yellow!

I would say that hybrids right now are the way to go over ethanol vehicles. Ethanol is just readily available yet. However, I would make a bet that in fifty years it will be the norm to drive ethanol vehicles in the United States. It is just going to take a while. I own a Honda Accord Hybrid and have really been happy with its power and economic nature. I would say that the new Camry is going to be a bit more solid and efficient than the Honda I have but again, hybrids are the new trend in the automotive industry and I would argue that they are here to stay.

Life enhancement: Will learning to invest alternative fuel using cars actually improve your life? What do you have to gain? What to lose? How much can you afford to invest in vehicles that may be more expensive but better for the environment?

What is the difference between Ethanol and every other Alternative Fuel? What about the other options like hybrid vehicles, are they more efficient since they still use gasoline but pair it with an electric motor?

Can Alternative Fuels really work for everyone?
